-Joey's Two Cents: They left out, in my eyes, the following 10 names: Woody Allen, Judd Apatow, Sofia Coppola, Cameron Crowe, David Gordon Green, Sam Mendes, Alexander Payne, Jason Reitman, Kevin Smith, and Gus Van Sant. Thoughts?
Overall it's a strong list, to me at least...
ReplyDeleteBallsy, putting Nolan and Fincher ahead of Scorsese and the beard. But collectively, I'd have to agree, strong list.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
ReplyDeleteAgree with David, pretty daring to go with Nolan and Fincher over Marty. But yeah, pretty good list, if I had to name my notable omissions I'd say: Woody Allen, David Cronenberg, Sofia Coppola, Jane Campion, Alfonso CuarĂ³n, Cameron Crowe, Paul Greengrass, Jason Reitman and Joe Wright
ReplyDeleteCuaron's omission is rather glaring...
ReplyDeleteAndre- Interesting choices...
ReplyDeleteDavid- Somewhat, yes.
ReplyDeleteNo Gus Van Sant? Walter Salles? Ang Lee? Wong Kar Wai? I think as usual some of the greatest auteurs of World Cinema get left behind in this list. But as far as mainstream Hollywood is concerned its a good list, even though some of the rankings may be up for debate.
ReplyDeleteFair point.
ReplyDeleteCuaron was the unlisted name that immediately jumped out at me.
ReplyDeleteGood to know.
ReplyDeleteWright and Adams over Cuaron and Ang Lee? Odd.
ReplyDeleteLittle bit...
