OnTheRedCarpet has the details:
Kristen Wiig had some box office success with Bridesmaids and the actress now has a start date for her passion project, Imogene.
In the dark comedy, Wiig will play "a moderately successful New York playwright who stages a fake suicide attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend, only to end up being forced into the custody of her gambling-addict mother," according to a press release.
Maven Pictures and Anonymous Content announced on Wednesday that the film would begin shooting in New York on August 8th. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (American Splendor, The Extra Man) will helm the project, which was written by Michelle Morgan.
Wiig recently starred in Bridesmaids, which earned a reported $150 million.
The movie was written by Wiig and her friend Annie Mumolo, who are both members of The Groundlings improvisational comedy troupe. Paul Feig, who created "Freaks and Geeks," directed the film and Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad) produced.
Wiig has appeared in films like MacGruber, Adventureland, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and Paul. She next appears in the comedy, Friends with Kids which also stars her Bridesmaids co-stars Jon Hamm and Maya Rudolph, along with Megan Fox.
Anything good that happens to her is good for us as moviegoers as far as I'm concerned.
