It is a messy plot all together so the movie wasn't going to be great. On stage her production of Mary Stuart, a serious play about English monarchs is widely considered one of the greatest productions of the century. She is strong dramatic director who is revered in the theatre world. We don't know enough about her cinematic skills to write her off yet. This is right up her ally.

As far as Meryl vs Glenn goes, I knew from the minute Albert Nobbs was announced that Glenn had a wonderful chance at finally winning that oscar. She deserved it for Liasons. She is a phenomenal actress who should be considered up there with Meryl. As much as I love Meryl, and feel she is the greatest of all time, the fact that Glenn does not have one yet is horrific. Meryl as August: Osage County coming the year after this one. That is an extremely baity role that has won awards for every actress who has played it. If they both give brilliant performances, I say give it to Glenn not only for her performance but for an amazing career. If Meryl loses this year, there is no way she will lose her next nomination. This year there is still doubt.Rishi Mutalikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01737804736506626340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-153900010550729263.post-58745866726354745412011-07-06T18:14:43.686-04:002011-07-06T18:14:43.686-04:00The irony is that both projects are being helmed b...The irony is that both projects are being helmed by directors I don't care one bit for...go figure.Joey Magidsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10465870030357008701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-153900010550729263.post-80329258849891835582011-07-06T17:57:11.119-04:002011-07-06T17:57:11.119-04:00Darn, Meryl may be unseated yet again for Oscar. In fact, both Iron Lady and Albert Nobbs are similar in that they center around two acting giants for whom recognition, of some sort or another, is overdue. Sight unseen, I still tack these projects at the pinnacle of the Best Actress predix list. The victor (or victress, I should say) will be the lady with the greater film overall, not just the better closeups and vanity shots. No matter what, we'll all reap the rewards of what I'm sure will be exceptional acting work.
